Makalu Region
The Makalu region is also one of the famous region for the researchers, visitors, adventure trekkers and mountaineers. The area is protected as Makalu Barun National park . The Makalu is the name for the mountain which is Fifth highest Mountain of 8,481 m / 27.825 ft and is situated towards southwest in distance of 19 km from Mt. Everest on Nepal and China border. It is a separate peak and it is pyramid shaped. It has two remarkable secondary peaks Kangchungtse or Makalu La (7, 678 m) to the north-west of main top .
The attractions of this region are mountaineering expedition, holidays adventure trips, wild life obvservation and also study of alpine vegetation.
