Tibet, which is known as " The roof of the world " is situated just north of the impressive Himalayas, Tibet has remained a hidden sanctuary to the western world for many years, The tourism has actively run to Tibet when the government has opened its doors for tourism in the 1985. Tibetan plateau covering 1.23 million sq km is linked to the south by the 2500km long Himalayas and to the west by the Karakoram. With an average height of 4,000 meters above sea level, Tibet Mt. Everest (8848m), the world highest peak rises abruptly on the Nepal and Tibet border. Four mountains exceed altitudes of 8,000 meters and thirty eight mountains exceed altitudes of 7,000 meters. The highest plateau on earth, rising more than two miles above sea level, boasts a unique form of Buddhism, not found anywhere else in the world. It has captured man's imagination for centuries. Encompasses some of the world's highest mountains.

Tibet is a land of myths and legends. This is no surprise since it was isolated from the world for centuries and has only recently opened to tourists Tibet can be divided into 3 major zones: east - the forest region; north - the open grassland where nomads and yaks dwell; and south - the agricultural region and the location of all major cities and towns such as Lhasa, Shigatse, Gyantse and Tsetang.The population of 2 million people offers incredible traditional culture. The palaces and monasteries showcase Tibetan architecture, carving and wall paintings. The Tibetan people are Buddhist, with only a tiny segment of the population practicing Islam and the Bon, a sect of Shamanism, which worships idols and involves the practice of driving out evil spirits.
The best known monasteries of Tibetan Buddhism are Drepong, Sera, Ganden Tashilhumpo in Shigatse, and Kumbum in Qinhai. In Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, guests can visit Potala palace- the former residence of The Dalai Lama, Norbulinkha –
the former summer palace of the Dalai Lama, Sera Monastery - Enclosure of Wild Rose, famous for its warrior monks, Jokhang Temple - as a gift by the Chinese princes Wen Cheng, Drepong Monastery - the biggest and richest monastery in Tibet, Bhakhor Market - a famous market for buying and selling, Samye Monastery, Yambulakhang, and Gyantse, etc.
