Rara national park is the Nepal's smallest and most scenic
National park covering 106 sq. km, situated about 370 km
north-west of Kathmandu. The name of the park is taken from
the Rara Lake which is the Nepal's largest lake surrounded
by magnificent conifers forest and snow- capped peaks. Much
of the park is at on altitude of about 3000 m. It was established
in 1976 to preserve the catchments oand surrounds of beautiful
Rara Lake. The park includes Chuchumara Danda (4087 m),
Ruma Kahd (3731 m) and Malika Kand (3444 mt), red panda,
black beer, yellow throat martin, gharel , serow and musk
deer are habitat of this area and also impeyan, kalij and
pheasant among the birds

Sagarmatha
National Park |
With
unique natural heritage Sagarmatha national park is
in north-east of Katmandu along side the Tibetan border
covering 1148 sq. km. all above 3000 m. in altitude
and the main attraction is the Mt. Everest also Lhotse
and Ama Dablam. It is also a home of the famous Sherpa
who are the specialist mountaineer. This park was declared
a world heritage site in 1979. |

Blue pine,
silver fir, juniper and birch are the tree species and
numerous species of rhododendron found up to an altitude
of 4000 m. musk deer, Himalayan thar, gharal, black bear,
wolves anre seen in this park with fascinating bird life
impeyan pheasant which is also national bird of Nepal
is commonly seen along with snow cock, snow pigeon red
billed and yellow billed chough Himalayan griffon vulture
and lammergeir in this park.
Trekking is the most common activities in this are. Dudh
koshi and Bhote Koshi are the main river in this area.
