Covering 1710 sq.
km area Langtang national park is situated, north of Kathmandu
to the Tibetan border. only 32 km created in 1971 any one who
killed a leopard or tiger with knife and lived to tell the tale
was presented with a medal from trekking Mt. Langtang (7234
m) situated in this park and tow of Nepal’s major river
the Trishuli and the Sunkosi flow through this park. As a result
of altitude variation from 1000 m to 7000m the park lies immerse
ecological diversity. Flora consists of oak and pine forest.
Juniper, larch and irch and scrub rockand snow in alpine. Fauna
includes red panda, muntjac musk deer, black bear, monkeys and
gharel Himalayan thar. The upper Langtang valley is one of the
few known breeding grounds of the bills besides the Tibetan
snow cock and snow partridge |
Tamang are the major
ethic group in this area who are from Tibet the Buddhist religion
follower. Gosainkunda, suryakunda are the holy lake. Several
trekking route in this park are depending upon preference
and time available |
DHORPATAN HUNTING RESERVE

Covering an area of 1325 sq. km. the reserve is situated on
the southern flanks of Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167 m) in district
Rukum, Baglung, Myagdi in western Nepal. It is a hunting reserve
area where controlled hunting of some species is allowed.

At
the lower elevation it is characterized by well developed
mixed-hardwood forest and many drier climates species
found to the north. Fir, pine, birch, rhododendron,
hemlock, oak, Junifer and spruce are the tree species
and it is on of the prime habitats of blue sheep, a
highly prized trophy animal which is the main target
of hunter. Controlled hunting is allowed with proper
license and certain season of the year Gharal, serow,
Himalayan Thar, Black Bear, Pheasant and Partridge are
other common animal. Endangered species like the red
panda and cheer pheasant are also found here |

KOSHI TAPPU WILDLIFE RESERVE
|
In
the year of 1976 with area of 175 sq. km. Koshi Tappu
wildlife reserve was established on the flood plains
of the Sapta-Koshi in Saptari and Sunsari districts
of eastern Nepal. |
The main vegetation is
tall khar-pater grassland with a few patches of
khari-sissoo shrub, forest and deciduous mixed
reverie forest wild buffalo (Arna) is the main
attraction in this reserve with hog deer, wild
deer and blue bull. About 450 different species
of birds have been seen even 20 species of ducks
are found here. The endangered animal like Ghariyal
Crocodile and Gangetic Dolphin also has been recorded
in the Koshi River. |
